Clinical Nutrition Professional Diploma
Clinical Nutrition Professional Diploma
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Despite the prevalence of nutritional disorders and an increasing amount of evidence showing the significance of diet in disease prevention, medical practitioners are typically untrained in the relationship of nutrition to health and disease. This training course is tailored for health and medical practitioners who wish to gain a better understanding of nutrition management in order to improve people or patient outcomes, especially for those people with conditions commonly seen in general practice, such as obesity, diabetes, pregnancy, cardiovascular disease, cancer and eating disorders. The training course explores the role of therapeutic diets in the treatment of chronic illnesses and other nutritional disorders, highlighting the principles of the nutrition care process as applicable in a primary care setting. You will learn key nutrition assessment techniques and intervention strategies that will assist you in providing comprehensive health care.
Over 65 percent of adults and over 30 percent of children meet the classification of being overweight or obese, and with this excess weight comes numerous health conditions that include heart disease, diabetes, cancer, musculoskeletal disorders, and even cognitive impairments. That’s whyin most cases the core cause of obesity and its related health conditions is a poor-quality diet and lack of sufficient physical activity in order to reverse this health problem, a foundation of proper nutrition and sufficient physical activity is highly recommended.
This training course is designed to provide a foundation of nutritional knowledge to develop a sustainable pattern of healthy eating and physical activity. These two key lifestyle behaviors are then brought together under the umbrella of calorie balance, which is the understanding of how we balance the calories that we eat in our diet with the calories that we burn to sustain life and to perform all of our daily tasks and functions.
