  • The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States and accepted by many international universities.

  • ✦ Purpose

  • To measure:

  • Critical reading

  • Writing & language skills

  • Math (with and without calculator)

  • Problem-solving & reasoning

  • Students in Grade 11 or Grade 12 (or international equivalents)

  • Students applying to U.S. universities or some Canadian/European/Asian universities.

  • Reading & Writing: 64 minutes- 54 questions

  • Math: 70 minutes- 44 questions

Total: 2 hours 14 minutes
Score Range: 400–1600

The SAT has two main sections:

  • 1️⃣ Reading and Writing (RW) Section

  • Duration: 64 minutes

  • Number of questions: 54

  • Content includes:

  • Reading comprehension

  • Grammar and sentence structure

  • Vocabulary in context

  • Editing and revising short texts

  • Shorter passages than the old SAT

  • You answer one question per passage

  • 2️⃣ Math Section

  • Duration: 70 minutes

  • Number of questions: 44

  • Content includes:

  • Algebra

  • Advanced math (functions, equations)

  • Problem-solving & data analysis

  • Geometry (light)

  • Calculator is allowed for the entire math test

  • On-screen calculator (Desmos) is provided

  • ·         Total score: 400–1600

  • o    Reading & Writing: 200–800

  • o    Math: 200–800

  • No penalty for wrong answers.
